The problem of tracking hands and fingers on natural scenes has received much attention using passive acquisition vision systems and computationally intense image processing. We are currently studying a simple active tracking system using a laser diode (visible or invisible light), steering mirrors, and a single non-imaging photodetector. The system is capable of acquiring three dimensional coordinates in real time without the need of any image processing at all.

Unlike West Byfleet, Chile was in revolutionary ferment. In the capital Santiago, the beleaguered but radical marxist government of Salvador Allende, hungry for innovations of all kinds, was employing Simon Beer’s father, Stafford, to conduct a much larger technological experiment of which the meters were only a part. This was known as Project Cybersyn, and nothing like it had been tried before, or has been tried since. Stafford Beer attempted, in his words, to “implant” an electronic “nervous system” in Chilean society. Voters, workplaces and the government were to be linked together by a new, interactive national communications network, which would transform their relationship into something profoundly more equal and responsive than before - a sort of socialist internet, decades ahead of its time.

The purpose of this project is to provide a computer simulation of the onboard guidance computers used in the Apollo Program’s lunar missions, and to generally allow you to learn about these guidance computers.

Get a wlan router you can controll via ssh / telnet. Find the way to change the SSID via command line. On my box i used:

$ wl ssid $name

Get your favorite song lyrics or poem into a text file. Clean it from any special chars and empty lines. Format every line to a width of 32 chars (maximal lenght of a SSID).

$ ssh root@router
$ vi /tmp/poem

copy / paste the “filename32.txt” into it and save it

$ vi /tmp/poem.sh
